Hello,

I have no idea about the AC, duct etc.

The repairman said that my eva coil is leaking and need to be replaced. This is 9 yrs old house. He also charges $225 for duct modification and $95 for disposal of the coil.

I have American Home Shield insurance on the AC unit with labor/parts and ductwork, but insurance does not want to pay the duct modification and disposal.

Are these duct modification and disposal charges right? What is the duct modification, is it part of the labor cost? Should I argue with insurance to pay the modification?

Thanks a lot!

Posting this question in the Heating & Air Conditioning Forum might get some responses.

Here in ELECTRICAL we don't know too much about "AC, ducts, etc.".

This would be the evaporation coil. It's not an electrical issue. There should not be a disposal fee for the coil. If you took it to the scrap dealer you would get money for it. That is what the service tech is going to do.
