paint vs vinyl siding

I have a 22 year old home that has aluminum siding that has no insulation underneath it. I just put a new addition on that has vinyl siding. Is it more beneficial/cost effective to relace the aluminum siding with vinyl siding with 1/2 inch insulation underneath or paint the aluminum siding every few years?

Paint is lots cheaper, but nobody can give you a good answer. It depends how long you will live in the home, what the weather conditions are, and many more details.
