Ceiling Fan Pullchain

I have a ceiling fan that operates on only pullchains (no switch as far as I know). The fan pullchain (4 wire) was broken so I replaced it. Now, the fan will change speeds but will not turn off. Any suggestions?

Which pullchain did you replace?

perhaps you have to power on the wrong side of the power switch and if it is in series with the speed switch, it always has power. You may just need to swap the wires on the power side.(not knowing how yours is wired, just using my EET knowledge)
