Electric garage door would not operate, and when lights turned on they would dim and get brighter. All electric to garage turned off that night. Had an electrician (family member) look at problem and he found that the voltage changed frequently from like 22 volts to 238+ volts. He checked all wiring at junction box in the attic and said it looked good. The aireator (sp) seems to be wired to two different breakers and when it would kick on lights would be brighter, and then dim as it went off. Unplugged it, but the lights continued to dim and get bright as they did before. He figures a power surge probably fried the motors in the garage door opener. He is stumped and call 4 other electricians for advice and all said they had no idea what could be causing the problem. Does anyone have any clues?? Right now the circuit breaker in the garage is turned off, but the aireator is needed for the septic system.
