it's been a while and i cant remember

UF-B sun-res wire can be burried right?

it goes to a hot tub, and was just laying ontop of the ground.

I also seen where someone said they didnt think sun res wire could be buried.

It's making me question myself :)

UF can be buried, the sunlight resistance rating just means that it is allowed to be exposed to the sun when run above ground.

Type UF cable is not a permitted wiring method for a hot tub installed outdoors. You need to use a wiring method for the outdoor portion of the circuit that includes an insulated equipment ground.

No, it is not the same thing.

Since you need to do something about the cable laying on the ground, you might as well go ahead and do the job right. Replace the cable with a buried conduit, PVC would do, and include an insulated equipment ground conductor with the power wires.

The additional ground rod does not contribute significantly to safety. Unless it was required by the manufacturer of the tub, it isn't actually needed.
