What does the NEC have to say about splicing copper to aluminum. Can you make a direct joint of #14 aluminum to #14 copper as long as you have UL listed purple wire nuts and noalax?

I don't believe I've ever seen #14 aluminum conductors and they do not show up in the conductor table in Article 310.

That aside, the code states " Conductors of dissimilar metals shall not be intermixed in a terminal or splicing connector where physical contact occurs between dissimilar conductors (such as copper and aluminum, copper and copper-clad aluminum, or aluminum and copper-clad aluminum), unless the device is identified for the purpose and conditions of use."

If you're using the Ideal Purple wire nut that is listed for copper to aluminum connections, it already has the anti-oxidant in the connector. You should note that the listing actually requires that a copper conductor be involved in the splice, the connectors are not listed for aluminum to aluminum and they are only listed for one time use, if you take the splice apart, discard the connector.
