I just bought a house that has an Ikea kitchen. I wanted to paint the cabinets white, so I started with a latex base coat (I've already completed two coats) The problem is that I wanted a shiny finish so we bought an oil top coat. Can I use a latex base with an oil finish? (I really don't want to take off the two layers of base that I've alreday completed.) I'm told that it is not advised to use latex then oil but what are the possible results for kitchen cabinets? Has anyone had this problem before?
