I am painting my kitchen cabinets. I am using MDF for the doors and drawers (not sure if this matters). At Home centers I have noticed some kind of protective finish on their cabinets. What is this? I heard it was a vinyl finish. Can I spray this on myself with an airless paint sprayer?

The bathroom vanities I painted before scratch really easily with just paint.
