I stained a fiberglass door about 2 years ago with a gel type stain and it was already getting bad (discoloring) a year later so then I restained it and applied a coat of varnish and now the varnish is peeling and the door does not look very good. What am I doing wrong? I used the proper stain according to the manufacturer. I know I need to sand the door to take the varnish out and restain but I don't want to do this every year. The inside of the door is O.K, so it has to do with the weather - son, snow, rain which the door sees some even though it is only partially exposed due to been several feet inside a small porch.
Thanks,
Bill
