I'm about 10 days out from re-painting the exterior of my cedar shingle home. I've spent the spring and summer prepping (lots of window work). I've already bought the paint - ***** Weatherbeater Ultra. Now that I've read some of the pros recommendations for Sherwinn Williams, etc., I'm starting to wonder if I made a bad choice. Is WB Ultra a good paint? It has a 20 year guarantee (which I know is marketing more than anything). The instructions say no priming is necessary, but I'm priming any bare spots with Kilz2 (found out about Zinser too late). Also, the instructions say that you can apply this paint over dirt - no need to pressure wash. Yeah, right! I'm going to pressure wash anyway.

Finally, I plan to spray the paint on, at least the siding (not sure I want to tackle the windows with a spray gun). Can anyone point me to a website with good spray painting tips?

The paint you bought will be fine and I agree that the house will need to be washed.
What type of sprayer are you going to use?

No idea what kind of sprayer. I'm looking to borrow or rent one. I have some friends that do remodeling that have an airless rig, but I don't know anything about it. If I can't borrow theirs, I'm about 2 miles from a rental center that rents Wagner Power painters and other airless electrics.

Any suggestions?

To be honest you should just go ahead a brush the siding on your house as the amount of covering up you will have to do and the chance that you get overspary on one or more of your neighbors cars is not worth it.
