Hi,
I just rented an aparment for a long term and it has yellow Formica kitchen cabinets that are in great condition, but the color is horrible. Does anyone have a suggestion on how or with what I can cover them,so that when I do move out in 2, 3 or 5 years from now, I can restore them back to their original condition?

You might consider replacing the doors to the cabinets, especially if they are "frameless" cabinets. Framed cabinets have a frame faceplate on the front onto which the doors are attached. Frameless cabinets have only five sides to the six-sided box. The doors attach to the sides, not a frame.

You can also paint them with a primer and a specialty paint to ensure adhesion, although that does not seem an option given what you wrote.

Any "cover" will look either tacky or be just as expensive as replacing the doors to the cabinets.
