Our houses previous owner painter the chimney outside with black paint. Besides the fact that it looks bad, they only painted it black about halfway up, the rest of the way up it is the original unpainted orange brick. Does anyone know if there is any type of paint sold in brick colors that we could use to paint over the black portion?

Thanks!

I would strip the paint with a chemical stripper to expose the brick instead of trying to paint it brick red. You will not replicate the color variations of brick with paint. Also, because you will be doing it outdoors, the airborne hazards of chemical stripper are reduced.

The brand of paint will not matter much. All exterior paints can be custom-colored. Because brick varies in color so widely, you will need to get a custom-color, anyway.
