Has anyone painted Luan Doors before?

If yes, what's the best way to prep the surface to accept paint and did you prime first and then paint?

You will need to prime the doors with an interior oil based undercoater and do not use one of the fast dry stain killer types as the slower dry types are much easier to use as far as getting a smoother finish. After the primer dries you will need to sand with a fine sanding sponge as the grain of the wood will be raised and wipe the sanding dust off with a damp rag. Then you topoat with 2 coats of a acrylic semi-gloss or gloss enamel. This is for an unpainted door , but if the door has been stained and varnished you will need to sand and wipe down with paint thinner before you undercoat and everthing else remains the same.
