VERY SMALL BATHROOM THAT HAS A LEAD BASED GLOSS PAINT NOW ON IT. THE WALL OR PAINT? HAS A BUMPY TEXTURE TO IT. HOW DO YOU RECREATE THAT SIMILAR STYLE IS IT THE ROLLER BRUSH THAT DOES THAT? DO I NEED TO GET RID OF THE EXISTING FINISH IN ORDER FOR IT TO LOOK GOOD? ANY RECOMENDATIONS? HAD COPPER PIPES PUT IN AND WANTED TO REPAINT BEFORE THEY PUT THINGS BACK IN. IS IT WORTH STARTING FRESH AND PUTTING BRAND NEW DRYWALL IN>? PLEASE HELP!!!!!! ...THANKS TOM

Tom.........it may be hard to recreate that texture - you don't mention if it is roller stipple or some sort of light texture.

One thing you could do is hang a liner paper over it - caulk the seams - prime and paint. Liner paper has the same texture as drywall - and if you hang it well, butting the seams - then caulk them when it dries - it will look like a brand new wall.........

That is my suggestion

Thanks so much for that info new nothing of doing that sort of thing. Actually I do not know what kind of finish that is in the bathroom ..I'd like to find ..we had a drywall guy come out and mention that it could be a roller finish. Since we had our pipes redone they have patched up the drywall and tapped it. He told me to use even a heavier roller in order to cover the smooth new drywall and the existing finish that way it will be a uniformed finish. He said just make sure you use oil based paint and lightly sand before I apply ..any additional thoughts? ...thanks so much!!!!

You shouldn't use oil in the bathroom - mildews too easily - a latex semi-gloss will be better.
