Hello and thank you to whom answers my question. Our kitchen has contact paper as wallpaper. The previous owners had not only done this once but twice over. Is there an easy way to take off this contact paper? Thank you again- Kathy

The best way I have found to remove contact paper is a heat gun. The heat softens the plastic so that it does not break in little pieces and also softens the adhesive that holds it to the wall. Believe it or not, you will probably find that two layers come off easier than one. The process is slow and tedious but can be done. Your other challange will be to remove the adhesive. I would start with washing the walls with TSP. If this doesn't work (try a small test area first) I would try denatured alcohol. I know that Goof Off will work (xylene) however it will probably soften your wall paint underneath the adhesive. Be sure you have plenty of ventilation whatever you use! Good luck.
