It just dawned on me that I shouldn't put my paint scraps after I used peel away in the regular trash. I live in the city where there is not such easy access to dumps. What should I do?

As a DIY'er you are not a large generator of "hazardous" material so disposal is not a problem. PEEL AWAY is NOT a hazarous material and if it is lead paint you have removed that is not necessarily a hazardous material either.
