Help!! My house is new and I want light orange peel finish on the ceilings rather than pop corn or other textures. The wallboard finishers tell me this will cost double to three times as much because of the preperation. Does this sound reasonable? They are already contracted to give us a smooth finish on the walls. Thanks

When you say 3 times as much we have no idea what the original bid amount was so if it was for example $300.00 then X's 3 well then it sounds like a good deal, but if you are talking $2,000.00X's 3 well then that is a different story.I'd get some other bids to do just the orange peel you want and then compare them.
The people you have figure most likely that you will stick with them seeing as they are already in the door.Dont be afraid to tell them that the price is to high and you are getting some other bids then just watch their tune change. Also just because you get other bids does not mean that you will get crappy work from the current, because the work will still need to be quality job for you to approve.
