We plan to paint our 1871 Victorian in the

very dark colors originally used. Both

American Traditions by Valspar & Duration

by Sherwin Williams have a lifetime guarantee. The SW costs about twice as much, which would only add ~$600 to the job, so cost is not the issue. Does anyone know what the best choice would be? This house is located in NW PA.

Thanks, Kathy

The first thing to remember that there is no paint that will last forever outside and don't get to hung up on warranties as all they normally cover is the paint anyway and not the labor to put it on.

Both of thoes products are good but I am not sure if the Duration is worth close to $40 per gallon. The Duration only comes in a satin finish and I am pretty sure the American traditons comes in satin and semi-gloss. I have seen the Duration used on trim but not on sidning so I am not sure if it will do a good job on siding as far as good looking job when it is done.

Hope this helps out.
