Is there a device out there that I can use on my extension ladder to hold my bucket of primer or paint while painting. I need it to also not be in my way of painting? Any advice?

There are lots of hooks and ladder accessories that can perform this function. One of my favoites is the paint hook that was included on my ladder stabilizer. A stabilizer is a set of arms that extend about 2-feet to either side of the ladder and holds it securely in place while you work. It gives you room to work, and keeps the ladder about 6" off the wall in front of you. Really easy to use, and a good safety device. This web page shows the type I use:

Other types are clips or chains that hook right onto the ladder. Your paint store carries a variety of them. Of course, if you really want to move this job along, don't carry a bucket at all, buy or rent an airless paint sprayer, and pump directly out of 5-gallon buckets you leave on the ground. You can spray, then back-brush without ever dipping.
