veneer plaster

Has anyone here used blueboard with veneer plaster? If so does it really save you time in the labor portion vs. taping and sanding drywall joints. Can you add finish paint color to the plaster?

I have heard that it is a little slower than just taping and skimming the joints, but the look is worth it to do the veneer.
To paint it you will want to prime with an acrylic primer and finish with the acrylic finish paint of your choice.
