If there is anyone out there that could PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE help me here. My son is wanting his desser and entertainment stand to be painted silver to match his bunk beds. It is the compressed finished wood product like what you would purchase at a wal-mart. Is there anyway that you can paint it to make it last?? Please some one help meeeeeee thank you ann

I take it this piece is covered in a fake wood grain pattern (most are).

The first thing you need to do is be sure that it is clean by washing it down with ammonia and water before any paint is applied. Then you will need to prime it with an acrylic/latex bonding type primer such as Zinsser 123 acrylic primer. The finish paint can be either acrylic/latex or oil based semi-gloss or gloss enamel. Plan on two coats of finish paint.
