I am seeking advice, how to bring back the natural cedar look. My home was build in 1990 and over the years the cedar has turned black. Is there a product to bring it back ?

You may have to use a couple of different products. There is a product by the FLOOD Company called Dekswood that may take off the black spots and it depends on how bad it is. You may have to use a mildew remover if this does not work and i have had the most success with JOMAX by Zinsser. Both of these can be found at you local paint store.
After you cleaning what are you planning on coating the siding with?
You need to use a wood wash,or a brightner made to eliminate and remove the black.Applied with a brush,sprayer,or a insect pump type sprayer.Then apply your color.
I have cedar siding and i dont know when it was last stained or treated. It is getting very dark and I wanted to stain it. I had a contracter come out and he said he couldnt power wash it bc it was too soft. He thought it would ruin it. How do you wash it then? I mean cant wash it personally (too much and too high). Can you pay someone to wash it? Do people do that?
Yes there are people that just wash houses but don't go with one that wash any house for say $69.00 . They can use lower presuure so as not to damage the wood siding on your house.
The person who came out and looked at your siding either didn't want to hassel with it because he didn't know what he was doing,or it was a to small of job,or it is so bad he doesn't want to get involved with it.

Is it the 6 inch half log or a different kind?
Too soft ive never heard of this before unless it is rotted,which I highly doubt the person sounds like he is just a newbie in the business get a few estimates.
Call around make sure they are under painters in your yellow pages if they have an add it means they spend money for the right purposes,if they just have a phone # with their name no add,they are either just starting out or are lazy.
I know that alot of people don't need adds too,but those kind of people don't even have a listing all thier work is word of mouth.
