Get some Goof-Off, assuming the paint is latex. You have to be careful, though, because the professional strength goof-off may damage the carpet. If in doubt, they sell another version that is supposed to be gentler on carpeting. I haven't used this version, however, so I can't say how well it works. The pro stuff is excellent. You can get either at the hardware store.
