Painting over eggshell finish

Can you paint over an eggshell (velvet) latex finsih with a flat latex paint?

I just finished painting the bedroom walls in an eggshell (velvet) finish. Since this finish highlights the walls imperfections, is it possible to apply a flat finish right over the eggshell finish?

As long as you paint with the same type of paint, I.E. latex over latex. If you painted with an oil eggshell, you would need to use a bonding primer to put a latex over it.
