The ceiling of my bathroom showed some discoloured spots. The spots could have very well been mold or mildew.
A couple weeks after a painter painted this bathroom, faint spots of discoloration are now appearing and am wondering what is happening here.
I have no idea if the painter had done prep work prior to painting.
If it was mildew and it was not removed by washing with a bleach solution it will grow through the new paint.
Does your bathroom have an air vent and is it used ? I would agree that it might be mold showing through the paint.
If you feel adventurous, you could carefully cut out that piece of drywall in the ceiling and get a look if there's something growing up there, or call someone but that costs more.
You could patch up the drywall fairly easily, then paint it over.
