i have a home which was built in the 1920's. the bathroom walls are not just uneven, they have been painted over at lease 3 coats of paint. i know because when i when to pry the cover plates off i seen the diffent colors. i would like to know the best way i thought maybe sponge painting but have never done this or much painting for that matter any ideals would be much appreciated.

Yes sponge painting would be good on your bathroom as it will somewhat hide the uneveness of the walls. Your local paint store can help you with what you need to do the sponge painting.
