I recently hired a person to update my entry hall. I asked for the "torn brown paper" look. I like the texture, but the paint that was applied was too orange (I wanted a golden yellow). And the glaze over the paint is too shiny for me. How can I tone down the orange and shine without redoing the entire job? Can a creamy yellow paint be added to a glaze with a matte finish and then applied over what I already have? If so, where do I find such a glaze?

You can tone it down by applying a brown glaze with a sea sponge and "punching" it on. I do a lot of faux finishes and the only way to tone anything down is to add a darker glaze over the lighter color-----not the reverse.
