ive painted the walls 2 times both colors dont look right.can you help.it makes the paint look brighter on the walls.bottom half is all wood real wood

A primer is the best way to achieve a consistent paint color over different surfaces.
Zinsser makes a good primer as do Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore. If you are painting a darker color, you can have the primer tinted toward the color of the finish coat to help achieve a consistent look to the paint.
