Bedroom set

I have a very old bedroom set that i want to paint the top of the dresser has i believe its firmica its shiny i would rather let it stay that way and paint the rest what do you think i have alread started to sand down the dressers it is white with gold trim can you help me in buying what ever i need to paint

Are you going to change the color?

After you sand the furniture you will need to wipe it down with paint thinner and follow this with an ammonia and water wash to remove hand oil and any wax that maybe on the surface.

If you are painting the dresser, than you can't really go wrong with paint for that. What makes you want to keep the top as it is?

For the best results you will want to go back with an oil based coating. But you will have to prime the surface first to get the new paint to stick.
