I'm very new at all of this. We've removed wallpaper that was a bear to get down. We are doing a Tuscan-type plaster and painting that. We have minor gouges in the wall. Here are my questions:
1. Can we just wipe the walls with warm water and a large sponge or do we need a chemical and water?
2. Do we need to prime the walls before applying plaster? If so, what kind/type of primer should we use?
3. What type of plaster should we use to get the Tuscan/Old World effect?
Thanks for any help you can give!

You will need to remove the glue residue and this is best done with water and wallpaper remover. Then prime the walls with Zinsser GARDZ which will hold back any glue you missed and will seal up the wall, and then you can fill in the gouges will spackling.
I am not sure about the type of plaster you would use for that effect.
