Painting over enamel toilet?? Possible?

I want to swap my white toilet for a black toilet. I am wondering if there is a way (besides spending $300 for a new toilet) to spray paint the toilet with some black enamel spray paint and not have it look like I spray painted it! Anyone know? I know I can purchase a new black seat & lid...so just the tank & base would be painted. Anyone done it? Anyone have advice? Thanks!!!

I would not do it as it is Very difficult to get paint to stick to that kind of surface. It will start to peel and scratch off quickly and look very bad, so invest in a new toilet.

Thanks for the advice - I knew it wouldn't be an easy thing, just hoping there was a cheaper way than investing $350 in a toilet. For some unknown reason, black toilets are approx. $100 more than white ones...Grrrr
