I have carpet on my floor, but want to know if I could paint the plywood under the carpet? And if I can how and with what kind of paint? Thanks for the help!

You sure can. You'll have to seal it first with primer, and paint it with any enamel or latex paint. Just remember to put varnish down after it dries, to seal it all in.
