I would like to stain a maple hardwood floor. I am aware of problems with blotchy coloring.

I was recently informed that years ago they used a very heavy stain to stain maple floors. It did not allow much grain to show through.

Can I buy this stain today? Are there any other stains appropriate for maple floors?
