Removal of nail strips that held carpet down--is there a trick??
Well we have pulled up the carpet and pads and found beautiful wood floors.....but how the heck do we get the nail strips up?? Is there an easy trick or tool to use--how do we not damage the floors in the process?
The strips are usually stapled to the flooring. You can use a smooth, thin prybar with a cloth to protect the floor to pry the tack strips up. The strips may crack, leaving the staples in place. Pliers are then used to yank the staples straight up from above. Levering against the flooring may mar it also. Good luck...
