Bvflooring
Need to remove a 4x4 area of marble-tile floor. Suggestions/tricks/comments?

Hi scstemp,

My suggestion: Hire a Pro. There are times where hiring one is the 'right thing' to do. To me, this is one of them. IF you mess it up, you'll be calling one anyway, PLUS, he may charge MORE to fix any damage you did. They know all the tricks.

A small sledgehammer and a masonry chisel will do it just fine. Sometimes an ordinary putty knife will suffice if the mortar is old or weak enough. Just crush it up and sweep. There is no way I know of saving the marble; the adhesive adheres to the marble forever, which is what makes it a good flooring material.
