Vinyl 'may' be able to be installed directly over the cedar but it depends upon how it will fit against windows, doors, and every other 'projection'.

In my region a siding job of this sort starts at about $250 per square, or in your 30 square job, starting at about $7500.

As homebild had stated, the window, door projections are an issue, but there are many other issues such as the condition of the cedar, which need to be considered, and prevent anyone from giving you a good price without seeing the job.

That being said, in my part of the woods, assuming all is in good condition, there is no need for tearoff, and I use the product I prefer, (Charter Oak for Alside) the lowest price would be around $340.00 per square.

By the time you pay $10,000 to get this you could get your siding redone for less than half.Deending what is on it currently I can't tell you what the upkeep would be.

The cedar is painted, i beleive it's called "chanell" cedar siding. Are you saying it's possible for me to get vinyl sidubg on for around $5000??? That would be great!

No I meant to restain it would be about that much $5000.00 but it is painted so it is hard to tell how much work would be involved.

About $7-10K to side it,best bet would be to get some free estimates on painting get 3 estimates and siding it get 3 different estimates.

Remember that vinyl still has upkeep,and we had to paint a couple last year that were only 6 years old because it faded so much,but it was cheaper vinyl.
