Bvflooring
The intelligent (heh!) previous owner of our house used to put those blue toilet cleaner "cakes" into the tank. I'm finishing up putting the toilet back on the floor, but noticed that a lot of the blue color from the tank has leaked onto the floor and the grout between the tile is now a medium-to-dark blue. I did try Soft Scrub over the area, but I'm more afraid of the bleach making that blue stain "set" into the grout.

If the grout is permanently stained, will I need to clean out the old grout and put in new? These are small 1" tiles. Fortunately it's only a small area that needs cleaning.

I have seen grout cleaners or bleachers in the stores, but I don't know if they'd be able to clean this type of stain. Since this is under the toilet tank, I'd almost be willing to put something on there that would color the grout back to white, since it'll be a non-traffic area, and somewhat obscured (indirect lighting).

Any ideas?

TIA,

Zap makes a pretty good grout cleaner but am not sure about your blue stains. Almost be willing to try bleach on an out-of-the-way spot first. Good luck

OK, part of the blued grout was beneath the toilet. I dumped some straight bleach on it, and washed it up. It looked "just OK" right after I did it, but noticed after it dried, the tile looked like new! Now it's so clean, I have to do the rest of the bathroom to match. :-)

Thanks!
