Anyone have any experience with wood floors in FL? How about an engineered product?
Just bought an 10 year old house; all floors need replacing. Tile vs wood?? We love wood but concerned with humidity, sand, etc. Thanks!

We lived in an old (1926) house in St Pete for over 20 years. No central A/C but did have wall units. Floor was old pine. Never had any problems - except termites. Only 2 types of houses in FL 1) Those that have termites, 2) Those that will have termites. Have regular inspections and treat as needed. Can not protect from 'drywood' termites as they swarm and land where ever they want. Either hardwood or engineered wood is fine. Am suspicious of composite laminates due to possible water infiltration.

Sure! As a matter of fact hardwood flooring is a very hot commodity in many parts of South Florida. Take a gander at some recent jobs from Tampa through Naples and over to Ft.Lauderdale at the following link.
