Has anyone out there had any experience in removing carpet padding that is stuck to the hardwood floors underneath? I'm just beginning to rehab a home I just bought. I was pulling up all of the pink shag carpeting upstairs (seriously) and low and behold the were beautiful hardwood floors underneath. All of the bedroom carpet and padding came up great, but in the hallway between the bedrooms and the bathroom it looks like all of the water tracked through the hallway has deteriorated the padding underneath to the point where it has "glued" itself to the floor. The floors are in great shape, so I'd hate to have to bring in a sander. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is there a product I can spray on the padding to loosen it up that wont hurt the hardwood floors? BTW..the hallway is 35' long, and three 3' wide.

hey everyone loves pink shag you should put it back down haha. No seriously here actually alot of padding is glued down with adhesive, the best way to get it up is to go to a carpet shop and ask them for something that will get it up, I used some sort of razor blade on a stick basically but I dont know what it is called on my old home and it worked quite well

You can use the PEEL AWAY 5 paint removal product for your project. It is a safe remover and it will keep the natural color of the wood. Visit www.peelaway.com
