I'm attempting to remove some hideous black and orange carpet from my home to uncover a hardwood floor. It seems that the floor must have been wet in the past. The carpet pad is in many places stuck to the hardwood floor, almost like it was glued that way. I'm removing as much of the pad as possible with a scraper. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use to remove the adhesive without wrecking the finish on the hardwood floor?

i think what has happened is the wax from the hardwood is sticking to your carpet, you might try a heat gun,or some mild soapy hot water, dry the floor right away. good luck
