Does anyone have any suggestions on how to protect carpet corners on the stairs. We just got new carpet and I would like it to last as long as possible.

could you explain what you mean by carpet corners? is this on every step or just the bottom one?
in general carpet today is very strong and in most cases does not need to be protected. infact most things that people do to protect there carpet,will cause more ware,not less(i.e. use scrap carpet on top of new carpet)
if the carpet you put in was nylon,you will get many years of use. good luck
