The ceramic tile floor in the bathroom has probably been there since the house was built in 1966 (some 36 yrs). It is now very dirty, very yellowed, dull and not very pretty. However, other than that it is in good condition. I'd rather clean it than replace it if possible. The normal cleaners do not do the job. Any suggestions? If I can't do that, can I put a peel & stick over it? There are no cracks in the floor and it is all in one piece. The tiles are not loose.

I would not sugest putting peel and stick over ceramic tile.
I would try useing a heavy duty phospheric acid cleaner first .. then if that doesnt work, you can put a laminate floor over it .

I would suggest a product called Poultice. It draws stains out of old tile. It comes in a dry powder and you mix it up like a paste. You apply it to the tile and let it set.
