you will need underlayment staples.7/8" should be fine...a rental center will have the gun and the staples...when you put down the board put one staple every 6" top to bottom and side to side...every 3" at the edge...good luck

just an extra tip to installing luan if you are putting down vinyl over it. take the extra time to make sure your joints are butted closely together, to much wood putty filler, will become brittle with time leaving you with a soft spot in the floor

What do you consider the best filler to use when filling in between the seams of the luan? Also, do you fill at all over the staples?
