Help! Wood Floors in Florida?
I have an installer coming out Sturday and he has a moisture meter that will give you instant results from many different locations on the concrete. It does not have to sit for hours. He told me that this is the best way to do it because you can get an ideal of the whole area rather than just a few points. I am confused because another guy told me that you really need to do this calcium chloride moisture test made by taylor. What is your take on this? Since I am in florida would you still not recommend gluing down solid (bamboo - engineered)?
Thanks for you help!
And if possible i would leave the base boards off for now. Cut back the wood as much as possible and then install it.
Make sure they use miter cuts on the quarter round "looks Much nicer".
also they should do a Extremely Good Job on the prep! removing all the paint from the floor"lil water works great for this".
This way the floor will stick to the concrete really good. level all the lows and high's. Then your ready to install.
anymore questions give me a call..

Glue down a solid ? i would do a moisture test.
Contact the manafacture.
and if they would still warrant the Warranty and everything is ok with the moisture test then i would.
bostic is the best for this.
Some installers just dont like dealing with the better glue! More time less money and the the bostic's glue takes like three to four days to wear off of your skin. Its a bear and the glue is so exspensive. Last i check it was $150.00 per bucket. Thats another deterrent.
I hope this is informitive to some.

Glue down a solid wood floor in florida? i would do a concrete moisture test and write this information on the slab. take a picture of the floor for your records. You would want to keep a file of all gluedown jobs for this reason "to protect yourself". Then i would Contact the manafacture.
and if they would still warrant the Warranty and everything is ok with the moisture test,They should recommend thier own product or maybe Recommend a wood glue
They may recommend bostic is the best for this.
Some installers just dont like dealing with the better glue! More time is less money and the the bostic's glue takes like three to four days to wear off of your skin. Its a bear and the glue is so exspensive. Last i check it was $150.00 per bucket. Thats another deterrent. Most installers would rather not work with bostic's best for those reasons. Installing useing Bostic's You must wipe the floors down as you go and cover the floor behind you to prevent spreading the glue. If you dont You will end up with water mark like spots everywhere that is nearly impossible to get up. So most installers would rather avoid working with polyurethane glues.
If you were installing a ingineered wood floor, Taylor is a good wood floor glue that is user friendly, easy to work with, easy to spread But not for a soild wood for theese types of floors you would want to use a polyurethane base wood glue!
and Follow my advise on cleaning as you go!
Good luck i hope this is imformitive to you.
