re-tiling shower stall

I have torn out the old (1968) shower tile & have scraped as much of the old glue as I can. The walls are cement, but the area that I have to re-tile is bumpy & uneven because of the old plaster & glue. What should I do? Thanks

get a grinder,and start grinding it back to a flat surface,if the surface is not flat,the tile wont be.....good luck
