What is the best way to remove linoleum? I started yesterday and it looks like it is going to be a long and drawn out project. I did not realize what all was involved.

I bought some parquet wood 12X12 panels to cover my kitchen floor. I was told I should remove the linoleum. Well, I started and realized there is old linoleum underneath. The linoleum on top is really glued on good. I peel the top layer and the paper underneath is sticking to the floor.

How do I go about removing it?

The one on top was put in in 98. The one under is I am not sure. I assume late 70's. It is gold lino. I know about the asbestos. So, I will not attempt to remove the bottom lino. I just need to know how to get off the top layer.

how about a heat gun and a putty knife.

It's gonna be tough.

So, this project entails more than I predicted. I assume most home improvement projects are like that.

A blow torch and putty knife. What about a hair dryer? Will that work?

blow torch may be a tad extreme, but a hairdryer would be a start.

I'm removing linoleum that was put down in 1992 or 1993. Is this linoleum asbestos free?

Yes, it is free of asbestos. That practice was stopped by the mid 80s'.
