hi I have to replace my roof in South Florida. It is a shingle roof and i want to pick a type of shingle that is most wind resisent and will also help to cool the house. one of the bidders suggested "timberline" series of shingles. He also suggested a "ridgevent" on the roof.

What type of shingle would you suggest? and does a ridgevent make any sense.. NO experience with roofs.

thanks much

Timberline ios a great shingle and all the architectural types are stiffer against the wind.

I wouldn't think of having a roof with no venting, especially in florida

Excellence is its own reward!

Timberline ULTRA is rated at 110 mph. There are some shingls out there with a much higher wind rating which are made from SBS material. Off the top of my head I do forget the name but they are out there.
