Hi, I am installing laminate flooring and need an idea for unlevel sub floor, my house was a two part home, and the center seam is uneven,I need help with how to fix so i can install floor. TIA Karen

Self leveling concrete ...

About $30 for 50 pounds. Expensive for a big room but sometimes you have to spend to save work. After you mix it, it looks like water but really does work. ( FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR HOW MUCH WATER )

I also have seen but not used the leveling material ( like above ) for laminate floors. The bag is not clear if you need to level it youself. The two big name home stores carry both ... look in the tile area.

Hi, thanks for th reply,? of concrete on osb borad? Or is there somthing else less messy? its an area of 25x25and one area is the hall, and its 35 flt long. Or could I sand the unlevel area, and screw it down good>? that Idea came to after I had posted.

I read your message again and sounds like mobile home or wood subfloor ??

I jumped the gun there, sorry. The concrete is more for a cement floor ( not impossible for wood - read the instructions to see if you meet the requirements to use it )

Does the floor flex at the seam or is it just not level ??

I would consider ..

1) asking the company installing the floor if they think it is something they can do more easily than you.

2) If not flexing and only a little out of level ... sanding the high side in the wood floor level with a belt sander and filling a small gap with a quality adheasive / filler.

3) Going under the house (if you can) and fixing the cause of the problem with a few extra pieces of wood and some screws from the top.

4) 1/4 inch cement board on the entire floor ( not unusual for tile on wood ).

Not really a no work kind of thing.
