It would be lame advice to install laminate flooring in a landry room where there is a sloping drain . go with ceramic tile .

let me add... manufactures of laminate flooring do not recommend installation of laminate in laundry rooms . water source ,sloped drains , moisture .

i can respect most or you post ,but why would you advise laminate in a laundry room in the basement , and naming products such as pergo , where it clearly states not recomended in a basement laundry rooms ,this can be costly for someone with no product knowledge experiance .time, money , and ,disapointment.

Well, first off, I missed the Basement part. your right, there is a good chance that there is a sloping drain, but we just do not know.

Vinyl would be the best for this application, although, if the moisture test came out o.k. and there was not a sloping drain, then in my opinion, it would not be a drastic mistake to throw in a small amount of laminate.

then again, we don't know if it's small do we? :)

Do you have a link from Pergo that states something about Basement applications. It seems you know something I do not.

no . not allowed slopping or not no open drains above or below . and yes read the pergo specks . im not making this up .

The laundry room is in a finished basement that is very dry. We did not have a sloping drain or water to worry about, so the laminate floor did make sense in our situation.

After considering Fudelli, we decided to use the Pergo floor because of the name(thanks Floorwisard) and because we were able to get matching quarter round and T moldings.

We also used the recommended underlay for moisture because we installed it on top of a concrete floor. A web site (maybe www.Pergo.com?) told us how to do a moisture test and how to use the underlay. We also put a tray under our washer in case that might leak.

Anyway, the floor looks great! We are very happy with the way it came out. I wish I could post a picture to show you all.

I figured there was a chance there was not a drain. So if it's just a below grade laundry room, it is perfectly fine if you stick with Pergo's spec's. And you did!

I know better than to install laminate where there is a drain, but I did not see anything on Pergo's specs that states you cannot install below grade on concrete.

if your landry sink or washer should overflo where would the water go... just curious . here in chicago basements where ever theres a landry tub in a basement theres a open drain . i have not seen one yet where there wasent any .also if you should drain your water tank where would you exit the water to.
