Bvflooring
We just had a company lay new hardwoods in our den and there are some spots that are already squeaking. Should this be happening already? Did they do something wrong? Should we make them come back to repair? The floors were very very squeaky before and we asked them to screw down the subfloor, they used threaded nails instead. How can we tell if the squeak is in the floor or subfloor? Can this issue be resolved w/out taking up the whole floor?

Help!

Hard to tell if they did anything wrong. But you may want to try baby powder to see if it's moisture. Or sometimes people go from under the wood to repair squeaks. Like in a crawl space.

did yo check if the floor squeaked after they nailed the subfloor? did you watch them install the flooring ,as they walked around ? was it squeaking the sub floor? if it was, chances are by nailing the new flooring didnot solve the squeaking problem . sometimes when nailing sub flooring you can actually loosen the floor, because of the hard blows to the joist. screwing down actually draws the sub to the joist. makes for a firmer floor.
